“A beloved cheese and specialty food distributor, R. Hirt opened a stall in the Eastern Market in Detroit (the largest public and open air flower market in the country) in the late 19th century.

I remember tagging along with my mom to Hirt and sidling up to the massive counter where they’d plunk huge wheels of cheese down to cut your order. The shelves seemed to hold not just products but history itself. Sadly, Hirt closed their retail store in Eastern Market in 2011 and places like that are very few and far between nowadays. This t-shirt is a reminder of that era. “
